New Release News:

Shine Through ItLife Under Pressure evolved from jamming in the studio while the tape was rolling. Slim then gave selected songs, improvised during that session, to top shelf musicians, including Willie McNeil and Norman Weatherly. The result is an accomplished CD that retains the punch of its original conception.
Shine Through ItIn South Side All Stars Doing Barnyard Hits, Slim has accomplished a feat that has never been done before. He brought over sixteen blues legends from South Central Los Angeles into the studio and recorded each one performing an original take on a blues classic. Los Angeles blues history was not only made with this CD, but the city's legacy has been recorded for future generations to honor and enjoy.

South Side Records

South Side RecordsSample some tastes from Slim's albums and photos from recent engagements. This is the official Blues website of South Side Records.  Our philosophy is to record and promote blues artists who have connections to blues greats of the past and who, at the same time, bring a fresh perspective to the blues. Our blues releases are not diluted; the vocals are by people who have experienced the blues in their lives and whose experiences inform their singing and playing. On "More Blues From The South Side," we feature blues legend Smokey Wilson. Smokey Wilson's blues are rooted in the Delta and he has been a major force in the blues for the past three decades. We are also interested in giving opportunities to blues musicians who are not able to record their blues on other blues labels. Since the release of his "Five Steps" CD, South Side Slim has become a force in the contemporary blues world. We believe that if blues is to progress, there must be avenues for new blues people to get recorded.

South Side Slim won the LA Weekly Music Award for Best Contemporary Blues Artist.

South Side Slim is a rising star in the blues world. After eight strongly received albums and ass-kicking performances at the North Atlantic and Pocono Blues Festivals, he is taking his place at the front lines of the blues. If deep groove blues with the vibes of Otis Rush and Buddy Guy with a taste of Hendrix and the Isley Brothers thrown in is your thing, then Slim's your man.
